Discovery Day - Yukon

Discovery Day is a Canadian holiday that is generally celebrated in Yukon, Canada. In Yukon, Discovery Day is a public holiday on the third Monday in August commemorating the anniversary of the discovery of gold in 1896, which started the Klondike Gold Rush. It is sometimes mistaken to be connected to Newfoundland's Discovery Day, but it is separate.

Dawson City

The biggest celebration for Discovery Day each year is held in Dawson City. This is the city that is most known for the gold rush and the city that has the largest celebrations for Discovery Day each year.
From family-friendly events such as crafts, face painting and a sampling of the Diamond Tooth Gerties' Can Can dancers show, to writing competitions, walking tours, an arts festival, and a golf tournament, there's barely enough hours in the day to do and see everything!
